The various arts departments at ISPH are greatly valued and strongly supported by great facilities and highly specialised teachers, providing students with rich knowledge and resources, helping to develop each individual’s passion, creativity and expression.

Creative Arts at ISPH are taught throughout all stages of the school. The Creative Arts department provides specialist lessons to students in Key Stages 3 to 5 (11 to 18 years old). The curriculum comprises two main areas: Art & Design, and Design & Technology.

Creative arts help stimulate students’ imagination, sensitivity, conceptual thinking, powers of observation, and analytical ability. Students will gain confidence and enthusiasm as they develop technical skills in two and three-dimensional form and compositions. They also learn how to develop ideas from initial attempts to final solutions.

Fine art and graphic design projects are set to develop student’s confidence and competency, enabling them to gain a better understanding of how to use the elements and principles of art such as line, shape, form, tone, colour and pattern.

A variety of 2D media and 3D modelling techniques are explored such as acrylic painting, watercolour, oil pastel, printmaking, papier-mache and digital art. Creativity, experimentation and skills development are integrated into each topic or project.

Technology also has a place in Creative Arts. As well as using their personal iPads for research and inspiration, digital content creation is woven into the curriculum, including 3D design, digital art and image manipulation. Technology is just another tool used as part of the creative process.
