Humanities
The Humanity curriculum provides students with the fundamentals of critical things,
problem-solving and decision-making, allowing them to develop research skills
and communication.
At ISPH, students are provided with opportunities to develop in both Geography and history, in which they are able to build on their own experiences and are encouraged to develop a ‘sense of place’ by looking at the world around them. The study of Humanities plays an important role in helping our students develop personal success.
Weekly Geography lessons inspire students to become global citizens by exploring their own place in the world, their values and their responsibilities to other people, the environment and to the sustainability of the planet. Geography inspires students to think critically, analytically and logically, helping them to become independent successful learners.
Students can develop their own identities through an understanding of History at personal, local, national and international levels. Students are encouraged to ask and answer important questions, evaluate evidence, identify and analyse different interpretations of the past, and learn to substantiate any arguments and judgments they make.
At ISPH, the Humanities curriculum is explored through a range of events and activities such as:
- International week: A yearly week-long event in which the whole school engages in a range of activities, allowing students to gain knowledge in a natural and fun way that will last a lifetime.
- Role play: Students are given the opportunity to engage within scenarios such as debates, conferences and trials, allowing them to showcase their knowledge and understanding in a practical form.
