Performing Arts
Our high standard of performing Arts education helps students develop musical and dramatic skills, improving communication, presentation, self-confidence and collaboration to achieve better learning results and to succeed in higher education.
At ISPH, students of all ages are provided with opportunities to develop in Music, Drama and Dance through a mixture of compulsory lessons and many different extracurricular activities, catered by our excellent facilities and experienced teachers.
Weekly drama lessons complement the musical programmes and our annual whole school production and performances in Primary and Secondary are highlights of the school year. Our well-structured curriculum ensures a clear progression of dramatical skills and students will be able to express and manage their thoughts and feelings while working in a safe and controlled environment. A key benefit of drama is the opportunity to develop self-confidence and self-expression, as well as a host of transferable skills that are invaluable in a person’s life; communication, presentation, collaboration and self-evaluation.
Music is a key feature of the school’s Performing Arts provision, and includes broad and varied programmes. As well as weekly timetabled music lessons for all students from Nursery to Year 10, we also offer group instrumental lessons for students in Year 6 to Year 9, along with private instrumental lessons.
Across the year a mix of Performing Arts events and activities happen, ranging from annual Primary and Secondary productions to smaller recitals and performances. Students are actively encouraged to showcase their talents in a variety of forums, including the annual ‘ISPH Has Talent’ competitions, weekly assemblies and other special events.
