A JOURNEY OF LITERARY DISCOVERY: HEART AND TALENT

Last Friday, Year 7, 8, and 9 Vietnamese students from ISPH embarked on a highly meaningful educational visit to the Vietnam Museum of Literature, themed “A Journey of Literary Discovery: Heart and Talent”.
Opening the programme, the students visited the statue garden of eminent literary figures and had a hands-on experience with the “Heart – Talent” shoulder pole – an activity carrying symbolic meanings about character and intellect.
During the trip, they explored the development of Folk Literature, Medieval Literature, and Modern Literature, while also learning about the history of the Vietnamese writing system and distinguishing between Han script, Nom script, and the Romanised Vietnamese alphabet 📖
In the Medieval Literature section, the students listened to the divine poem “Mountains and Rivers of the Southern Country” and learnt about “Great Proclamation upon the Pacification of the Wu” as declarations of independence affirming national sovereignty.
A special highlight was the interactive session with poet Dr Do Anh Vu and Dr Do Thanh Nga, where the students discovered more about the lasting influence of “The Tale of Kieu” within Vietnamese language and culture.
The journey also brought many vivid experiences, including a theatrical performance of Chi Pheo and Thi No, listening to the poem “Bac oi!”, watching a documentary about President Ho Chi Minh, and learning about the creation of “Tien Quan Ca” 🎭
The programme concluded with the song “The Boat and the Sea”, a crossword activity, and a traditional Dó paper printing experience featuring the words “Heart – Talent”.
💙 Following the trip, the students expressed great excitement and gained valuable knowledge about Vietnamese literature, history, and culture.
