Head of PE & Sports (Appointed from the Academic Year 2025-2026)

With over 15 years of global teaching experience, Christopher Petherbridge brings passion, energy, and vision to his role as Head of P.E and Sports at ISPH. A graduate of Sheffield Hallam University (BSc Sport Development with Coaching) and the University of Bedfordshire (PGCE in Secondary Physical Education), Chris is a dynamic leader who believes in the power of sport to transform lives.

From the UK to Malawi, Chris has led vibrant sports programmes, coached students to championship level, and held key leadership roles including Head of House, BTEC Quality Nominee, and Deputy Head of Sixth Form. His innovative initiatives—such as the Sixth Form Enrichment Programme—have empowered students to grow as athletes, leaders, and well-rounded individuals.

At ISPH, Chris will lead an inclusive and exciting P.E. and Sports department where students of all levels are inspired to achieve their personal best. Whether he’s coaching elite teams, launching inter-house competitions, or cheering students on the sidelines, Chris ensures sport is a source of joy, confidence, and growth for every learner.

Outside the classroom, Chris is an adventurer at heart—he’s completed marathons, led student mountain expeditions, and is a certified Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Supervisor. A keen photographer, traveller, and amateur actor, Chris brings creativity and a global outlook to everything he does.

His mission? To create a thriving sports culture at ISPH where students are motivated, confident, and ready to take on the world—one goal, one game, and one personal best at a time.
