Ms. Susan Joo
Secondary English Teacher
(Appointed from the Academic Year 2026–2027)
Susan was born in South Korea and moved to Sydney, Australia at the age of four. She completed a Bachelor of Secondary Education and Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English, where she deepened her love of literature, language and storytelling. During her studies, she was awarded the highest achiever in the Secondary English course.
Over the past four years, Susan has taught English across middle years and senior secondary classrooms at a leading independent Anglican school in Sydney. She is passionate about helping students become thoughtful readers, confident writers and reflective thinkers. She believes English gives young people a powerful space to question ideas, explore different perspectives and find their own voice. In her classroom, she values humour, academic challenge and strong relationships, and aims to create an environment where students feel supported to think deeply, contribute confidently and grow in character.
Joining ISPH marks Susan’s first international teaching position. She is excited to become part of the school community, contribute to the English department, and learn alongside colleagues and students in a new cultural setting.
Outside of teaching, Susan enjoys staying active, reading and exploring new places and cultures. She also trains in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai, and is looking forward to discovering life in Hanoi.
